What is a Request for Judicial Notice?

A request for judicial notice is a request for the court to take notice of certain requested facts. Often requests for judicial notice are made to the court just before a hearing or trial. Judicial notice of a fact may be taken when it is a fact well-known to be true in the community, or easily verifiable such as a ruling or judgment in another matter.
