What Are Sanctions-Non-Discovery Motions?

A motion for sanctions (non-discovery) requests that the court impose sanctions, usually monetary, on an opposing party. Usually, the moving party alleges that the opposing party has acted in bad faith in some litigation activity, such as the presentation of evidence or legal arguments.
