Filing Required For Most Documents
All pleadings subsequent to the complaint, and all written motions and other papers required by statute, rule or judge's orders to be filed, must be filed with the clerk of court with a certificate of counsel or other proof that copies have been served on all parties in the action who (1) have appeared and (2) have not been defaulted for failure to plead. IL Supreme Court R. 104(b).
Filing Discovery Materials
Do Not File Discovery Requests to Parties
Discovery to parties may not be filed with the clerk of court except with leave of court or as authorized by local rule. IL Supreme Court R. 201(m).
Do File Discovery Requests to Non-Parties
Discovery requests to non-parties must be filed with the court in accordance with the requirements of Supreme Court R. 104(b). IL Supreme Court R. 201(o).
Depositions Filed on Request
At the request of any party, the duly authorized officer of the court who transcribes a deposition shall securely seal the (1) deposition, together with (2) all exhibits or copies thereof and (3) a sworn certificate that the deponent was duly sworn and that the deposition is a true record of the deponents testimony, in an envelope and promptly file it with the clerk of court in person or by certified or registered mail. The envelope in which the deposition is sealed should bear the title and number of the action and the words "Deposition of" followed by the name(s) of the deponents. IL Supreme Court R. 207(b)(1).
Serve Notice of Filing Deposition
The party causing a deposition to be flied must promptly serve notice of the filing on the other parties. IL Supreme Court R. 207(b)(2).
